Evaluations - Dribbling Slalom
What's tested: running speed when having to control a ball (dribbling)
How set up: Note that the dark circles in the drawing are cones or flags.
- Place starting cone on the ground at "S"
- Walk ahead 4 yards and place a marker cone on the ground (this will be moved several times).
- From the marker cone, go 4 yards to the right and place a corner flag (the 1st weaving flag)
- Continuing in the original line, move the marker cone 4 yards further ahead
- From the marker cone, go 4 yards to the left and place a corner flag (the 2nd weaving flag)
- Continuing in the original line, move the marker cone 4 yards further ahead
- From the marker cone, go 4 yards to the right and place a corner flag (the 3rd weaving flag)
- Continuing in the original line, move the marker cone 4 yards further ahead
- From the marker cone, go 4 yards to the left and place a corner flag (the 4th weaving flag)
- Continuing in the original line, move the marker cone 4 yards further ahead and replace it with a corner flag (the terminal flag).
- Place a line of cones from the 4th weaving flag to the terminal flag
- Note: corner flags should be used instead of cones in case the player or the ball bumps against them
- Player stands behind the cone at "S" and waits for the command to start
- Player dribbles the ball following the path shown in the diagram, going first around the flag to the right, then the left, then the next right, then the next left
- After the 2nd left flag, the player dribbles straight to the top flag and then sprints with the ball back to the cone at "S"
- Timer stops when the player crosses the cone at "S"
- Time
- Must follow the path indicated, must go around the outside of the flags
- Sprint in a straight line back to "S" after passing the top flag
- Speed is important, ball control is even more important
- Start the timer when player starts (either the player or the adjudicator can say "go")
- Stop the timer when player crosses the cone at "S"
